'we are everywhere' pansy lavender print

'we are everywhere' pansy lavender print

I wanted to create a print that was decidedly queer and trans, but without using those words. I wanted to create a print about the unity that I have found in our community. mostly, I wanted to create a print that is about how we are everywhere: always have been and always will be.
I have a habit of assuming the symbolism in my work is obvious, so forgive me if it's obvious to you, but I'm going to explain every aspect of this little print. starting from the center, the print shows two pansies springing out of a dark space. these flowers, based around the reclaimed slur, represent the entire queer community. the reason there is a pair of them, is to communicate how queer and T4T friendships/relationships are key to surviving the darkness. the pansies are bursting past the dark circle, finding themselves in the light. on either side there is a twig of lavender - a reference to the lavender menace, and the way that lesbians and sapphics have always protected our community. I utilized symmetry with the lavender and the diamond, to convey balance - in a world where our traitors chant to "drop the T" I want to convey how queer & trans are one and the same.
finally, the words along the top read "we are everywhere". I grabbed those words from a vintage queer button, I love how it's both obvious but also plausibly deniable? the print is circular to encapsulate how we are all over the globe. there's not a country, not a town, not a single place where we do not exist. we are everywhere.

thanks for reading! you can find this print here
